I was on my way to work for a very important meeting with a client. I had everything ready: my presentation, my report and my proposal. I had things represented in my mind. With the kind of presentation he was giving, he was so confident that he could close the deal. That day was the turning point of my life. It was my most anticipated break after three long years of being with the company. Suddenly I felt excruciating pain in my wisdom tooth. Even if I have a very high tolerance for pain, I really felt the throbbing sensation moving towards my jaw and head.
I could almost cry. It was giving me the worst pain on my biggest day. I don’t have a decayed tooth, especially my wisdom tooth. I know my teeth are healthy so I was really wondering where the pain was coming from. Not having enough time to think about it, I went to the pharmacy for painkillers. I prayed long before taking the painkillers, hoping to ease the pain in a jiffy. Fortunately, while I was doing my presentation, the pain was still there. He tortured me along with questions from clients. I couldn’t think clearly. And as a result, I had to apologize before making a fool of myself.
I don’t have the luxury of time and my clients were waiting. It’s good that mom’s line is never busy and always available. As a child, I told him about my toothache and, calculating the time and the situation I was in, he suggested tea and tea bag. It would be the quickest to prepare and the easiest to look around the restaurant. So I offered my clients tea for a short break while I waited for my tea bag to fully soak into the cup. Then I excused myself so I could wrap the tea bag around my problem tooth.
I was very tense thinking that it is a little strange to use tea to cure a toothache, but I was already desperate. After a while, I felt the pain subside until it was completely gone. I was so relieved and grateful for the tea bag I was holding that I even put it in my briefcase. We resumed with the meeting, I was my old self again. My presentation was spontaneous, entertaining but objective, and I was confident of winning the deal. It didn’t take me long to convince them to get the deal. I survived the crucial stage of my career and I overcame the worst toothache I ever had. It was a double celebration for me.
Tooth pain relief can also be obtained from alternative sources. When you are in a very critical situation and when seeing your dentist is impossible, it is beneficial to keep in mind some tips to avoid toothache and miss the most important episode of your life. After signing the contract, I went directly to the dentist to find out where the pain was coming from.
