I was very active on Twitter last year as the platform grew tremendously and became an amazing tool for creating conversations on the internet. As part of the social media world, you need to consider your position as a team player. Is your passion educating businesses about the power of Twitter as a tool to expand community and engage with their markets?
Here are two top tips for using Twitter strategically for a more professional image:
1. If you have a Twitter account and a Facebook account for your business, make sure your Facebook page name and Twitter handle are the same. Identifiers when prefixed with the @ symbol are automatically translated into links on Facebook that link directly to your business fan page.
2. Be sure to include a word in your identifier that will make it easier for people to locate you. This is especially true if your goal is to recruit talent on Twitter. When I first signed up for Twitter, few people followed me. Several months later, I changed my identifier to something more specifically geared towards my company and my brand, and voila. Hundreds began to arrive.
3. Universities, schools or organizations with a calendar of upcoming events can use the “TWUFFER” tool to schedule tweets (weeks or months in advance). TWUFFER will automatically send queued tweets when the correct time/date arrives. This tool is extremely useful as it saves time and energy during busy times, especially during busy registration periods and sports schedules.
