Proverbs 4: 20-22 read, my son, pay attention to my words; incline your ear to my sayings. Don’t let them get out of your eyes; keep them in the middle of your heart because they are life for those who find them and health for all their flesh. David was speaking the inspired word of God to his son; These were not his words because only the words of God can give life, so what he is saying is that the word of God gives health to all his flesh, both internal and external.
When we meditate on the word of God and apply it in our lives about diseases and illnesses, we do not have to worry about its side effects because it is health for all our flesh. Now, I am certainly not against medicine and doctors; I myself am a retired nurse and I know that artificial medications have side effects. If one does not have enough faith to believe in his cure, then take the medicine; it can still cure the problem, but be aware that it can cause other problems as well.
God has given man the knowledge of natural herbs for disease and it works, but man has taken the knowledge one step further and created medicine that works in one way but harms in another; that is why you will see the warning label on the package. The best thing to do is apply God’s word to illness. The second best option is to take herbs designed to cure this disease.
The word of God is not only health for us in case of illness and disease, but it is also a sustenance for life in every area of our life. There is knowledge without the Spirit of God, but it leads to death or destruction, for example, someone might know how to commit a crime and if they do it and get caught, then they would have to pay the price for that crime. It could affect your future, your family, your livelihood and it could even cause your death; All this is knowledge without the Spirit of God, but there is knowledge with the Spirit of God and this knowledge leads to a fruitful life. God said these words to Joshua in Joshua 1: 8. This book of the law will not depart from your mouth, but you will meditate on it day and night so that you take care to do according to everything that is written in it. For then you will prosper your way and you will be successful. It is obvious that when we observe the word of God and obey what He said, our path will become prosperous because there is life in it.
The word of God makes us whole in every way; it is health for all who seek it, because it takes pleasure in doing good for us. David said in Psalm 23: 1 the Lord is my Shepherd, I will lack nothing and Paul said in Philippians 4:19 and my God will supply all your needs according to His riches in Christ Jesus. These two scriptures are taken from the Old and New Testaments and both indicate that God will supply all our needs, but will also give us the desires of our hearts according to Psalm 34: 7, which says: Delight yourself also in the Lord and in Him he will grant you the desires of your heart. Therefore, we can apply the word of God on ourselves as a medicine to heal and we can apply it in our life for everything else that we need or want because it is health for all our flesh.
