Many trains and planes from Paris, among others, to other major French cities were full on Friday. Thursday evening, Jean Castex announced the reconfinement of 16 departments.
SFollowing the announcement Thursday by Prime Minister Jean Castex of the establishment of new containment in 16 departments, including the Paris region, many people were still trying to leave the French capital on Friday. Trains and planes were full.
It quickly became impossible to reserve a seat on a train for Brittany or the south-west. The last seats available were first class on expensive, long and detoured train journeys, points out By Standaard.
It was complicated to get by train, for example, to Rennes or Biarritz, note the French media. Planes for Corsica are also taken by storm.
Figures on the rise
The new restrictions are imposed for at least four weeks in the sixteen departments because, according to Jean Castex, the coronavirus is on the rise again recently. Schools will remain open, but all non-essential stores except bookstores must close. People must stay within 10 kilometers of their homes during the lockdown. Travel to other regions is not permitted.
In France, there is already a curfew from 6 p.m., but from Saturday, a week before the introduction of daylight saving time, it will be shifted by one hour. In the region around Nice and around Dunkirk in the northwest, weekend containment has been in place for a few weeks now.
