It was an invitation to join a group of people in a pub she had never been to before. She decided to go.
Quite late a refined looking man entered the place and went directly to their table. He too had been a very short-term guest by a friend and had never been to the pub before. Later one day, she was driving past the pub where they had met years before, and had never been since. She didn’t remember her name.
