In nearly a year, 59,103 people have been admitted to hospital due to Covid-19. Some 1,905 are still there, including 474 patients treated in intensive care (the highest since January 2).
Between March 4 and 10, an average of 45,400 tests were carried out daily, a total up 8% compared to the previous week and which may partly explain the increase in the contaminations detected.
The reproduction rate (Rt) of the coronavirus stands at 1.05, compared to 1 the day before. This therefore means that the transmission of the virus is progressing.
Between March 7 and 13, 25 people died on average per day from the virus (down 7.9 percentage points), bringing the toll to 22,421 deaths since the start of the pandemic in Belgium, or 24 of more than in the balance sheet of Saturday.
In the meantime, 755,160 Belgians have received the first dose of the vaccine, i.e. 6.6% of the total population. Some 378,932 of them have already been inoculated with the second injection and are therefore fully vaccinated, representing 3.3% of the total population. More than 1.1 million doses were therefore injected, with a current average of 19,600 vaccines administered per day (+ 37%) between March 4 and 10.
