Mons, Ixelles, Ath, Anvers, Westerlo, Verviers, Gesves, Villers-la-Ville, Genk… On Sunday, a hundred Belgian towns and villages were the scene of demonstrations – a little skinny, covid oblige – of dozens of people disguised as a lawyer who expressed their support for a legal action against the Belgian authorities responsible for the climate in our country. After many years of procedural maneuvering, it is indeed this Tuesday that the trial of the “climate case” will finally get to the heart of the matter with, before the court of first instance, the pleadings and replies of the parties. It will be held until March 26. The climate case complaint is supported by over 60,000 people. For these, none of the four governments of the country is taking measures respecting the commitments made by Belgium at the international and European level and making it possible to avoid the deleterious effects of the climate crisis.
