The lawn was full of briers and thistles. It was like a net reaching out and capturing my once beautiful green grass. How could this happen? I did everything right! Slave and slave to have the most perfect lawn and garden, and now my labor resulted in overgrown weeds.
I immediately took action and battled the weeds with the strongest weed killer on the market. Instead of killing the weeds, my lawn started to die. I read the label and did everything right. Still nothing was working to rid my lawn of those evil weeds.
Finally, I fell to my knees and started taking out one fight at a time. I spent hours pulling and weeding every inch of my lawn. No matter how hard I had worked, the weeds grew stronger against me, producing ten where there had been one before.
I thought about what was happening to my garden and pondered why all my efforts seemed to be wasted. Suddenly the Holy Spirit encompassed my thoughts and opened my mind to see the world just like grass, I was so desperate to save.
Satan had taken God’s once perfect creation and corrupted it with a single temptation. When Adam and Eve began to eat from the forbidden tree of good and evil, our world began to fill with sin. It was like a weed that sprouted and quickly spread through the world and captured the perfection of the beautiful garden.
Now, no matter how many efforts we make as human beings to control sin in our lives, we are corrupted by our society and environment due to the decisions that others have made before us. The temptations that lead us down many paths are meant to forever block us from getting the sin in our lives under control and winning our game of life forever.
Our lives are supposed to be about more than satisfying our daily needs and desires. We are here to overcome the best tempter of them all! Satan the deceiver and the spoiler of the corrupter of all mankind.
Because our world is not perfect, we must reach many valleys of decisions. We are not automatically good. Let’s not automatically make all the right choices. We can easily be persuaded to give up by the way the world thinks we are supposed to behave, rather than the way God wants us to behave.
For instances, if you are born within a country where there is a dictatorship, you are told how you are supposed to make a living from the wealthy leaders who benefit from the government hierarchy. They control who you worship and teach you to think according to their belief system. They limit your options and use force to make you conform.
If you live in a country with a democracy that gives you the freedom to pick and choose, then you have the corrupt forces of many options. Free Enterprise opens doors to give people the ability to become very rich and for other people to become very poor. Democracy also gives you the ability to choose or choose your religion or not believe in God at all.
The religion in which we are raised also persuades us according to the doctrine of its belief. They teach us to worship God. Some even use God as a means to start wars and slaughter people who refuse to believe what they do.
Not only are we corrupted by our world governments, but we can easily be convinced to follow our peers. Schools educate our children, but they are also “grounds” for gangs and for our children to follow the crowd, due to peer pressure and the desire to fit in with their friends.
It seems that the tares of sin have corrupted everything good that was once perfected by God. The garden of the world is full of thorns and briers that are meant to lead all people down the right paths of life. All are under the evil corrupting power of sin.
Romans 3:9b-18: “I have already shown that Jews and Gentiles are alike under the power of sin. As the Scriptures say: there is no one who is righteous, no one who is wise or who worships God. Everyone they have turned from God; they have all gone wrong; no one does what is right, not even one. Their words are full of deadly deceit; wicked lies displaced from tongues and dangerous threats, like serpent’s venom, from their lips ; their speech is full of bitter curses. They are quick to hurt and kill; They leave ruin and destruction wherever they go. They have not known the way of peace, nor have they learned reverence for God.”
We are all like Adam and Eve. We have all given in to temptation and have been seduced into giving in to our desire for riches. We have all been given over to the corrupting forces of evil thought because of how our world is set up.
Because our world is evil, we are all destined to sin. This is why it is difficult to have a good marriage apart from divorce. This is the reason why people are easily persuaded to do drugs. This is the reason why there are wars and countries full of corrupt government officials. This is also why murder and all kinds of bad things happen to people.
The garden of the world is full of sin’s overgrown weeds sown for the purpose of persuading all who live here to do evil. The only way we can lose sin from our lives is by making a conscious effort to do what is right and we are still subject to failure.
Romans 7:17-23, “So I am not really the one doing this, rather it is sin that lives in me. I know that good does not live in me, that is, in my human nature. For even though the desire of doing good is in me, I can’t do it. I don’t do the good that I want to do; instead, I do the evil that I don’t want to do. If I do the evil that I don’t want to do, this means that I am no longer the one doing it. does; instead, it is sin that lives in me.
So I find that this law is at work: when I want to do what is good, what is bad is the only option I have. My inner being delights in the law of God. But I see a different law at work in my body, a law that fights against the law that my mind approves.”
This is the reason why many people cannot quit smoking. They are chained to their addiction. This is the reason why there is alcoholism and people who start. This is why wife and child abuse exists. Every form of sin comes in and grabs people and enslaves them to do the bidding of their addictions.
World leaders give their addiction to power, greed and fame. All governments and society developed and built by men can never be good because they all have the corrupting power of sin. It is like a virus that affects all levels of government, discarding the theory of good government and corrupting it with people who use power for their own ambitions.
This is the reason why Saddam and Hitler were able to lead countries to commit horrible monstrosities against people. This is the reason why genocide is taking place in Africa. This is the reason why war is used as a means to steal oil.
If our world is so corrupted by sin, how have we overcome it in our lives? We must believe in Jesus Christ as our Savior. Faith in Jesus is the only way we can be saved in an evil world. Because we cannot walk in this world and live free from the pull of sin in our lives.
Romans 8: 1-6, “There is no condemnation now for those who live in union with Christ Jesus. By the law of the Spirit, which brings us life in Union with Christ Jesus, has freed me from the law of sin and death What the law could not do, because human nature was weak, God did He condemned sin in human nature by sending his own son, who came with a nature like man’s sinful nature, to do away with sin God did this so that the just demands of the Law would be fully satisfied in us who live by the Spirit, and not by human nature Those who live by their human nature are told to have their minds controlled by what nature wants. Those who live As the Spirit tells them to, have their minds controlled by what the spirit wants. Being controlled by human nature results in death; to be controlled by the spirit results in life and the pa z”.
When a person recognizes their inability to stop sin and gives their addictions over to God, it helps them overcome the power of sin in their lives. Only through giving our lives to Jesus Christ, we were given the supernatural power of the Holy Spirit that fights against the power of sin in the world.
Once I understood why my garden was overgrown with weeds, I began to fall to my knees and ask Jesus to save my lawn. What I couldn’t do on my own, I could do when God’s Spirit was supernatural, helping me overcome the sins I would face in my life.
