Following the last Consultation Committee (Friday February 26, 2021), VOO announced that its support measures will now be extended until April 30, 2021. As a reminder, since November 2, 2020, all VOO fixed internet customers (residential and professional) can benefit from a unlimited download volume.
“Our priority is that everyone can experience their work or learning situation in the best possible conditions”, explains Cristina Zanchi, Chief Commercial Officer.
In practice, there is absolutely nothing to do. The provision of an unlimited download volume will be done automatically.
Proximus
All of the actions listed below are extended until the end of March.
1. The removal of download limits on all products residential fixed internet.
All Proximus actions are extended at least until the end of March.
2. The distribution of free wi-fi access codes (to the Proximus Public WiFi network) to pupils and students who do not have internet at home. In practice, these codes are made available to schools, universities and colleges which can then redistribute them to their pupils and students. The request must be made exclusively through the address [email protected].
3. The provision of 10 GB of additional mobile data for workers in the health sector “so that they can stay connected with peace of mind”. To obtain them, they must register via an online form. They will receive a confirmation from theactivation of the data package by SMS within 72 hours of their request.
4. A one-month suspension subscription (capped at 150 euros) on unused telecom products bars and restaurants. The suspension only takes placeat the customer’s request via, here too, an online form.
5. The establishment of TV channels dedicated to the sector culture and media, “to enable them to express their cultural creativity”. The PODIUM19 channel has also been available since January 21 (it is channel 269).
Scarlet
With this operator too, the unlimited download volume is extended until March 31, 2021.
Orange
This operator has not announced any additional support measures. By default, the download volume for its fixed internet connections is unlimited.
Telenet
More specifically, for customers who have a fixed Telenet internet connection (not unlimited), this operator will only charge half of the consumption. For those who have unlimited internet, off-peak hours will be extended from midnight to 5 p.m. (instead of 0h00 to 12h00). “Extending these off-peak hours allows customers to surf, telecommute and stay connected throughout the day without a speed limit,” she explained.
“Indeed, the rule is that during off-peak hours, customers surf unlimited at normal speed, but outside these (peak hours when there is a lot of traffic) the speed is reduced when the customer consumes more than 750 GB (at 20 Mbps in downstream and 2Mbps in upstream). “
Otherwise, this operator is extending its Wi-Free action until the end of this school year (therefore until June 2021): like Proximus, this is the distribution of Telenet access codes for disadvantaged families with children in school or young people in school. These codes allow you to connect for free to one of the more than 1.5 million Telenet Wi-Free spots.
“The distribution is done through schools and social organizations such as the CPAS”, according to the details of his spokesperson. The use of these codes is valid throughout Telenet’s coverage area, namely Flanders, Brussels and the Botte du Hainaut.
Finally, “in the coming weeks we will launch in Brussels and Flanders, in collaboration with social organizations, the first test of our ‘Telenet Essential Internet’ solution”, she added. It’s about a internet connection at a fixed price of 5 euros / month for the most vulnerable groups who do not have an internet connection at home or who only have a very limited internet connection.
