Artificial salt rooms are popping up all over the country. They are an inexpensive way to give the public a “taste of real salt therapy.” These artificial salt rooms are built by placing a metal grid on the wall and then mixing sea salt with artificial resins and applying the mixture to the wall by hand until all the spaces are covered. Some salt rooms also use this method on their ceilings. The ground is covered with loose sea salt.
The room has a “sterile white” look. To soften this look, many salt rooms place Himalayan salt lamps around the room. Some of the materials used for the construction of the room could become breeding grounds for bacteria.
With this in mind, the manufacturers of Halo generators recommend that after each 45-minute session, the room be treated with an ultraviolet light to destroy any bacteria in the room.
The salt is introduced into the environment through the use of a machine called a Halo generator. The Halo generator has numerous metal blades that grind and launch crushed salt into the air, at continuous high speed, with an audible sound. This method of aerosol distribution of sodium chloride salt particles (about 0.3 -0.5 microns) can accommodate a room up to 300 square feet.
The construction of a salt cave is very different.
The salt caves are built with tons of large imported salt rocks, natural resins, wood and water sources that create a natural microclimate, totally free of bacteria. This sterile environment filled with negative ions helps relax and modulate the nervous system, ridding the body of stress from external stimuli and initiating healing and rebalancing.
Salt Caves does not use halogenerators or other mechanical or artificial means of “salt spraying”. The salt oxidizes the mechanical parts, which then spray unhealthy oxides into the environment. The salt in a cave regenerates and grows because the water sources within the cave feed the microclimate with a salt-saturated solution known as sole (pronounced LAY). This is the same solution that is found in the primary oceans and in the embryonic fluid.
This unique microclimate is enriched with 84 trace elements, the same elements found in the human body. They are absorbed by the human body naturally through respiration and through the pores. As these elements are inhaled and absorbed by the body, the body’s PH levels out and returns to a healthy state of homeostasis. Water and salt are the essence of life. The result: the body and mind are in perfect balance and you feel relaxed, rejuvenated and full of energy.
Research and studies have shown the beneficial value of the microclimate of salt caves to protect our body against viral infections, balance our immune system, improve sports performance and in the following disorders:
(1) respiratory infections: upper respiratory system, asthma, bronchitis, pneumonia, sinusitis, obstructive pneumonia
(2) Cardiovascular diseases: hypotension, circulatory failure, post-infarction period
(3) Immune system diseases: thyroid gland, etc.
(4) Gastrointestinal diseases: inflammation of the large intestine, Crohn’s disease, spastic colon and ulcerative colitis, constipation, malabsorption, gastritis, stomach and duodenal ulcer
(5) Skin diseases: acne, dermatitis, allergies, psoriasis, delayed skin aging, wrinkle removal
(6) Nervous system disorders: chronic fatigue, panic attacks, migraine, improvement in the ability to concentrate.
Metabolism disorders: treatment of obesity
As a drug-free treatment for asthma, bronchitis, cystic fibrosis (CF), and sinusitis, salt caves target the source of the problem rather than simply suppressing symptoms like medications do. It is a drug-free solution that is free from side effects.
