Money is just an idea. But, like an atomic bomb, this idea can destroy or build you up. It can lead you to a life of abundance and happiness; It can also ruin your dreams and ambitions in life. It is so powerful that people all over the world take care of it.
You may have heard the story of a beggar who is not so fat, but strong, with a cherubic face, and a physically excellent body, very capable of driving women crazy just because of his good looks. It is a funny story. You want to know why? The fun part is due to the fact that this guy doesn’t have a single dollar in his pocket. That explains quite well why he is a beggar.
When I was in my 20s, I had a lot of money. Pretty girls frequented his villa day after day. As an inexperienced businessman, he befriended bigwigs in town and was able to jump-start his new business. For almost ten years, his life was perfect, full of joyous and unforgettable moments.
One day a letter arrived. She was sent by a lawyer informing her that her parents were murdered by a gang of men who claimed to be employees of her father’s law firm. They were asking for a separation fee and other related fees that her father was not in a position to grant at the time. The letter further exposed other illegal activities of his father that could have been the culmination of all these events, ultimately leading to the tragic murder.
Tears began to roll down the largest portions of her cheeks as depression began to take over her entire spirit. He only thought of one thing to blame for what happened: the man’s desire for money. “Sacrificing all ethical principles for money is outrageous,” he told himself as he began to wipe his gloomy, wet face with his right hand, “money for me is the root of all evil.”
With all the lawsuits coming into his office every day since his parents died, his money was not enough to solve everything. He had only one thing to do: close his business and file for bankruptcy.
From then on, his life began to change from bad to worse.
How it got to the streets is another story. “Money for me is the root of all evil”, he keeps repeating it or even shouting in the streets as he walks begging like a madman from one corner of the city to another.
Money is just an idea. But be careful! This idea is so powerful that it can make or break you.
