Making money from offline marketing is a powerful way to generate income for both an online business and a traditional brick and mortar business. Many internet markets seem to forget to use some of the simple strategies offline. There are many techniques that are not used and here I will give you some tips, tricks and resources.
Being in business as an entrepreneur means a few things, you are a problem solver first, you must be a con artist second. The first definition is pretty self-explanatory. The second some people confuse it with some kind of bad connotation, I remember the first time someone called me a scammer, I was offended. Then the young woman explained to me that it was a compliment, so I felt honored. I listened to a webinar where Ray Higdon, a very powerful entrepreneur new to the internet field, spoke very candidly about many offline marketing techniques that he uses, confirming what he already knew.
I enjoy putting my marketing on autopilot as much as possible, however I agree that a good mix of traditional and creative marketing is definitely a great mix to add to the technique. Some of the techniques are listed.
CONTACTING ENTREPRENEURS
There are a wide variety of resources that will give you names, numbers and even addresses of entrepreneurs. Self-employed people like real estate agents, beauticians, landscapers, childcare providers, etc. are people who are used to rushing. They understand that if they lose their core business or clientele, they will be in great jeopardy, and if approached in the right way, they will be open to another opportunity. The key is in the focus.
POST IT NOTES
Take a large sticky note and post it on fast food takeout speakers, or place it near the condiment stand at Starbucks or Dunkin donuts with a very short note suggesting that if the person who has the privilege of reading the note visits ” your website” or call “your phone number” can get access to important and time sensitive information that could easily help them generate an additional income of 1k – 5k a month (or whatever you think is feasible). For those who call you, you have a serious competitor, someone who is interested in what you have to say, someone who has gone through your sales funnel and wants more information. This is the best type of lead to have
FREE WEBINARS OR SEMINARS
Every time you do a live event that’s free and offers solutions to problems, you’re seen as the expert and every time you’re seen as the expert, you can cash in on the experience. If you can make sure you’re recording the event, so you can later use the audio or video to use again, maybe even sell it at future events. You have a captive audience here, so be sure to run a survey and a few questions where participants can answer questions that help show you what issues or challenges they’re having moving their business forward. If you can become their hero, they will become your business partner or at least buy you a tool or resource that will help solve their problem.
ATTENDANCE TO LIVE EVENTS
Make sure you don’t bring any business cards or paraphernalia with you when you attend live events. Your exact task is to meet people and be fully engaged and interested in what they have to offer. Gather as many business cards as you have time and the next day, without fail, call each and every one of them and ask if you can help. The dynamic here is to offer solutions to their challenges, because the day before your goal is to get them to talk about the one challenge they have with their business. When you call, let them know that you’ve thought about their conversation and think you may have a solution for them. When you give others what they want, you finally get what you want. I think Zig Zigler said it best.
MARKETING OF POSTCARDS
Making money sending postcards is a well kept secret of many of the gurus, they tend to have a lot of offline strategies that they don’t share. Mainly because they have to keep some of their best techniques for when you’re inside their inner circle. However, postcard marketing will get results, especially when done correctly. Personally, I don’t think there is a wrong way to do postcard marketing; It’s like any other marketing technique. You just have to start and then you have to follow up, and then you have to test and see what converts best. When you find the words, colors, and marketing technique that works for you, keep using it and building on it.
Making money from offline marketing is a great way to stay in front of people who are actively looking for what you offer, otherwise they wouldn’t have reached out to talk to you. However, it is serious not to say that the fortune is always in the follow-up and if someone leaves a phone number or email be sure to follow up with them ASAP and start a conversation. The first thing you want to do is build a relationship with that person. People are more likely to do business with someone they feel, know, like and trust. Never be pushy, just ask questions, listen and offer solutions. Those who are serious will ask what they need to do to sign up with you.
