Are you ready to move into your new home? Often times, many new homeowners (or newlyweds to be more specific) are so excited to move into their new home; and due to too much excitement, they forget some little things that actually turn out to be important as well. Like for example the kitchen, surely you have not forgotten to have your Keurig B70 or Senseo Supreme 7832 but most of the time people forget to get containers for sugar and cream, and maybe a coaster for your cups .
Surely you wouldn’t want to find yourself saying “Oh my gosh! I totally forgot!”. It will be a bummer if you discover that you may be missing a potholder when you are already cooking your first meal in your new home. To avoid getting into these situations or committing these “bloopers,” here’s a short checklist of kitchen essentials you must have for your new home:
1. Pots and pans
You should definitely include pots and pans on your list. Make sure you have a skillet and at least 2-3 pots of different sizes.
2. Kitchen essentials
Make sure you have all the cooking essentials: potholders, kitchen tongs, ladle, spatula, etc.
3. Cutlery
It’s a good idea to get one of those knife sets that are literally complete from a butcher knife to a butterfly and paring knife. While looking for cutlery, you should also get a can opener, peeler, and a pair of kitchen shears.
4.Porcelain and silverware
You definitely need your serving plates, plates and saucers, glasses and cups. Add a pitcher too. Of course, you also need cutlery with it. Ideally, you should have at least a dozen of each type as you never know when you might have guests over.
5. Basic appliances
Aside from your stove and fridge, you need to be equipped with basic appliances. The basics should include a toaster (or toaster oven), a microwave, and other things like an electric kettle, blender, dishwasher, hand mixer, etc.
6. Kitchen organizers
An organized kitchen is naturally ideal. Equip yourself with things that will organize all the items. Get proper containers or storage areas for condiments like sugar, cream, salt, pepper, your cutlery, pots and pans, etc.
7. Cleaning supplies
Always be clean on the go. Obviously you need the right cleaning products for this. Always have hand soap, dishwashing detergent, and a dishwashing sponge in your sink. Have towels or rags available too. To make sure you really get things clean, always finish with a disinfectant.
These are essentially the things you need to keep in mind when moving into a new home. Remember not to overlook any of these because all of these elements need to go together in the kitchen.
