J L White Funeral Home
Jessica L. White, owner of J.L.White Funeral Home, knew from an early age that she wanted to make a difference in the funeral industry. A graduate of the University of Michigan, she later went on to earn a degree in embalming and a license as a funeral director. She spent many years researching and developing best practices to better serve the community. After earning her license, Jessica worked in the pathology department at Henry Ford Hospital and then attended St. Petersburg College.
After the White Brothers Furniture and Undertaking Company opened in 1885, the White brothers established a second location on First Street in Union City, Ohio. Gus B. White Sr. and his brother Willie White sold their interest to J.L. Ranson, which created the White-Ranson Funeral Home. The two men merged their operations in 1924 and moved to Washington Avenue in Union City. This location is still locally owned and operated, and the funeral service will be held at the Ellison Chapel.
