EEO Investigator
EEO Investigator Certification is an important step in becoming a professional in the field of employment discrimination. The role of an EEO investigator is to conduct investigations and write reports. EEOC investigators are employed by federal agencies, private firms, educational institutions, and law firms. They conduct interviews with complainants, witnesses, and third parties. An EEO investigator has to be impartial and fair in his or her conduct.
Applicants should submit an EEO Investigator Certification application, assessment questionnaire, full resume, and supporting documentation. It can take four to six weeks to complete the hiring process. The hiring official will contact applicants with the results of their evaluations. Once the applicant is selected, he or she will participate in the training and certification program. This course is offered remotely over four days.
During the training, the applicant will learn about the roles of an EEO investigator and investigate two cases under the guidance of the course instructor. Course topics may include determining whether discrimination has taken place, theories of discrimination, and other issues. Additionally, the course may cover the role of an EEO counselor, interviewing difficult witnesses, and writing effective reports.
EEO Investigator Certification
To become an EEO investigator, you must have a minimum of 32 hours of training. This includes eight hours of continuing education every year. Federal regulations require that investigators refresh their knowledge on current developments in the EEO field. Refresher training can be completed through educational vendors or through the EEOC’s Training Institute.
A successful candidate for an EEO investigator position should have a strong knowledge of business writing and legal writing conventions. He or she should also be able to work independently and effectively manage an investigation. The applicant must be a self-starter, able to conduct fact-based inquiries, and ready to learn. In addition to their investigative skills, EEO investigators must have a sound understanding of the rights and remedies of victims of discrimination.
The EEOC Training Institute offers a 32-hour EEO investigator training course. These courses can be done either online or through traditional classroom settings.
The Institute’s instructors are experienced and trained in conducting equal employment investigations. Their expertise ranges from analyzing case law and researching current trends to drafting effective reports. Upon completion of the training, you will have a solid foundation of knowledge in the EEO field.
After completing the EEOC’s 32-hour EEO investigator training course, you will be prepared to conduct unbiased and fair investigations. You will have an in-depth understanding of the EEOC’s policies and laws, as well as the various tools and techniques you can use to conduct an investigation.
Refresher training is also a good opportunity for an EEO investigator to gain more experience. During this class, trainees are taught the mechanics of writing effective reports and learning how to organize and present their findings. Instructors provide insight into how to effectively write for an audience, ensuring that the information you gather is easily understood.
Lastly, EEOC offers an 8-hour EEO investigator refresher course for those who are new to the field. It is designed to refresh an investigator’s knowledge on recent changes to the law and the investigation process.
