San Francisco is one of the best places to visit on your next vacation, and not just for the Golden Gate Bridge or a world-famous trolley ride. In fact, there are many great places to see and things to do while you’re here, some that many don’t even think about. Many know the lure of Fisherman’s Wharf, but there’s also Pier 39, just a few blocks away, which has more entertainment value.
There are many interesting shops including the kite shop which is full of different kites from all over the world. There are local street performers and you can even see the sea lions at the end of the pier.
Another overlooked attraction that San Francisco has to offer is the Exploratorium, located on Lyon Street, just south of the Golden Gate Bridge. This fully interactive museum is located in the Palace of Fine Arts, a San Francisco landmark. It has hundreds of interactive exhibits, in all fields of technology, nature, art, and science, and is sure to thrill visitors of any age.
There are many other features of San Francisco that deserve at least one look. There’s the Japanese Tea Garden, the Aquarium, and even a large outdoor amphitheater in Golden Gate Park. During your visit to the park, a stop at the Children’s Playground is a must if you have children. There are many large structures to climb and even a carousel.
Then from there you need to travel to Ocean Beach and explore the Pacific coast. At the top of the hill at the end of Geary Street are the remains of the old Sutro Bathhouse and the opportunity to view marine life at Seal Rock.
