The other day, I received an email from a reader who was trying to put together a custom medifast order, but was not sure which foods to choose. He asked me to give him a list of the best tasting foods. I was happy to do that and will share my list with you below, but everyone’s tastes will be different. Still, I spend a lot of time on weight loss websites and many of the people who are there agree with me. So next, I’ll go over, by food, which of the foods I chose and enjoyed most often.
My Favorite Medifast Breakfast Options:For breakfast, I almost always have the cappuccino. I am a coffee drinker and couldn’t really start my morning without it. Cappuccino is part of the momentum metabolism line and you can get it either by ordering it individually or by ordering a momentum packet (which includes most other popular foods). I also enjoy oatmeal and like all the flavors (apple, cinnamon, blueberry, and peach), but peach has to be my favorite.
Mid-morning snack: I will usually have a protein bar here because 10:00 to 10:30 is a very busy time for me. These bars do not have the crisp texture or bland taste of many protein bars. Most of them are chewy and don’t have a strange aftertaste. You are only allowed one of these per day. The only flavor I don’t like about these is the strawberry crunch. My favorites are peanut butter and mint chocolate.
Lunch:Oddly enough, I often eat medifast eggs for lunch. I eat my lunch a little early and often am not very hungry at the moment. So I’ll add veggies and fat-free cheese to the eggs in the morning or sometimes I’ll add cheese and omelette. Other times, I opt for chili. It’s pretty good and I like to add the low calorie cheese and diet fries on top to make a kind of taco salad. Many people ask me about soups. Some of them are fine. I like both chicken and rice and chicken noodles. Tomato soup is good too. But, I’m not a fan of crab or broccoli, but I also don’t like these things when I’m not on a diet.
Afternoon snack: I almost always have a smoothie here. Medifast 55 Dutch Chocolate Shake tastes very rich and indulgent and at 3:00 am I have cravings for snacks and carbs. I sometimes use the ready-to-drink shakes if I’m too busy to make the 55, but they aren’t my favorites because I really like to control the texture and I like to add fat-free syrups. The Dutch Chocolate Shake with Caramel Syrup and Fat Free Whipped Cream is pretty good. French vanilla is decent too, but I’m a fan of chocolate in most meals.
Dinner:Your dinner is self-made and called your “green lean meal”, although you can eat this main meal whenever you want. So, I’m going to skip this because none of the meals on the plan are involved here.
Evening snack:There are a couple of options here. The most common is that I opt for the pudding (my favorite is the banana). Sometimes, I go for the fries if I want more salty than sweet. And there are many recipes that allow you to take the dried pudding and turn it into baked goods, so sometimes if I have the time, I do.
Above all, I don’t find that medifast foods taste that bad. I usually steer clear of crab soup, beef stew, and fruit drinks, but pretty much everything else is edible and can often be improved by just fixing it.
