In the same way that “you become what you eat”, you also become what surrounds you. There are some wonderful people in the world who can stay happy despite being surrounded by my war, famine, and really negative life circumstances. However, most of us are not as strong as that and we are easily affected by what is going on around us in our lives.
Have you ever seen someone else yawning and found yourself yawning soon after? If yawning can be so contagious, imagine how contagious something more powerful can be, like a negative feeling!
It is very, very difficult to stay optimistic if everyone around you is very negative. How can you be happy if all you hear is people complaining and all you see is sad or angry people? How can you believe that this world is a good place to live in if all you see on TV is bad news or sad love stories, all you hear on the radio is about how badly the government is doing and how bad what is the weather situation, and all you read are magazines full of the same negative content?
In the same way, it’s hard to feel like a great person if you surround yourself with people who complain about everything you do and if you’re soaked in media that tells you that you’re not good enough if you don’t have the perfect house. a high income, socializing with the right kind of people, wearing the right clothes, having the right body shape, etc.
Is it time for you to do some cleaning in your life? Examine the environment you get into! Do the people you socialize with lift you up or drag you down? What are the contents of your daily media consumption? Does it make you feel like a great person and inspire you to develop yourself even more? Does he tell you that everything is useless and that you will always remain the horrible person that you are?
Eliminate people from your life who are not useful to you. If they happen to be close relatives or your spouse, it can be difficult to cut off contact entirely, but you may be able to think of ways you can minimize their impact on you. As for the rest, do you really have to keep watching them?
Delete all the media that are not useful to you! Instead, start looking for magazines, books, TV shows, etc. that give you a positive feeling and inspire you to become an even better person.
You will find that it is so much easier to be happy when you truly allow yourself to be happy by living in a supportive environment!
