Sing-A-Ma-Jigs were first introduced this year at the 2010 New York Toy Fair, and are considered to be the next big event this Christmas. What are they?
They’re cute little teddy bear-style dolls that are in four bright primary colors right now and it’s thought there will be eight more models launching this fall. They chatter in their own language and when you squeeze their bellies they open their mouths and sing! Singing?
On their own, a Sing-A-Ma-Jig will sing their own song in a high to baritone vocal range.
The current colored characters sing:
(Red) Where oh where has my puppy gone?
(Pink) “Jump into my bathroom”
(Teal) “When the saints march in”
(Yellow) “Home in the Country”
Put them together, squeeze them on the tummy and that’s when the magic really starts to happen. Each character will automatically tune in and everyone will sing together in perfect harmony. The more you add, the more chorus you will have, as they all produce their own pitches that will harmonize with all the others. What happens when you squeeze its paw?
Squeeze her left paw and her singing modes change from chatter to single notes or her preset songs. They may hold their hands up in the air with a look of wonder and surrender, but it seems as if they are surprised by their own ability.
These toys are designed for ages 36 months to 6 years, but are loved by all kinds of kids, and the kid in all of us as these Sing-A-Ma-Jig toys are so adorable!
