Today climate change is talked about or written about in almost every aspect of our lives. But how many people really understand what climate change is and how it affects us now and will affect us in the future?
Does anyone reading this not know that the temperature of the planets is constantly increasing?
This is commonly known as “Global Warming”. The warming of the planets is just one of the ways it will affect us and change our climate. If you follow what happens due to the planets rising in temperature, that’s when you really start to set up and take notice.
Suddenly, someone notices that there is an effect that follows the cause: the old “cause and effect” strategy. The planet heats up and the planet’s ice begins to melt, but “cause and effect” doesn’t stop there. No. The ice melts and the sea level begins to rise.
We now know that climate change is affecting us by:
a) Global Warming -The planet is heating up.
b) The planet’s ice shelves are melting, and
c) The sea level of the oceans is rising.
But how do these things affect us, me and you?
In addition to weather patterns becoming very unpredictable and in some cases extremely random, there is the problem of ice melting. This melting ice is dangerous for us in many ways, to name just a few:
There are many species on the planet that are very likely to become extinct because they are losing their habitat.
The loss of any species on the planet is, or should be, a huge concern for all of us. Some of these species are hunted by people for food, and losing them is a loss of a food source in an area where food sources are very scarce. These same species are also hunted for their fur to keep people warm in extremely cold climates.
Here some may suggest that the warm weather could be good for these people so they are not so cold. This is such an outrageous thought and that is why these types of articles are so important to better educate the people of our world. Because, again I point to “cause and effect”. Nothing changes without cause and effect.
Affection: We are now discussing the rise in sea level in the world. There are many communities that are actually below sea level in the world, and its rise can cause horrible tragedies around the world.
Is there anyone reading this article who is unaware of what happened to a “little” community called “New Orleans”? This is just a sample of the tragedies to come if we don’t take action.
How does climate change affect us? At this point, I hope my article has given you some insight. Now for the important part of this article, what can “we” – me and you – do about it?
To be completely honest, I really don’t think the effects of our climate change can be stopped or reversed at this point, but I do think we can still slow down its effects, if we all to take action.
If you keep reading and wondering “what can I do?” So on behalf of my grandchildren -The eldest being two, 6-11-2009 -I want to thank you.
Let’s discuss what you can do to help:
1) accept that you to be able to help even if you have a limited income. This is the first step to progress and help. Otherwise, he would be too overwhelmed thinking he couldn’t afford to make a difference. But there are many levels of help you can participate in, and the most important level is the level that your participate in.
2) Choose your level of participation:
a) It costs you nothing and will actually save you money.
Bottom line, turn off those unnecessary lights. Turn off the water while you brush your teeth, shampoo your hair, or lather up. Don’t waste gas making useless trips to the store. Try to make a list and limit your trips to the store. It saves you gas and money you would have spent on gas.
Try to carpool with someone who is already going to the store, or even to work. Simple things that cost you nothing.
Can we take a better step that still doesn’t cost you money? Sure. How about locating your local recycling facility? Now, instead of adding to the problem, you’re taking steps to alleviate it. This isn’t difficult, and I’ve shown you how you can keep more of the money you already have.
b) It is a level that would require some expense, the amount of the expense would be entirely up to you.
Replace those old energy wasting light bulbs with some new energy saving light bulbs. You don’t need to do them all at once, if your budget doesn’t allow it. You can simply change them as the old bulbs burn out.
Now make sure all your faucets and shower heads have restrictors or water conserving heads.
Get your car tuned up and be sure to check the air pressure in your tires. If it’s within your capacity, consider trading in that old gas guzzler for a newer model, preferably a hybrid.
Now that you know how climate change affects us and how you can help “affect” climate change, I hope you’ll share this with everyone you know and remember to visit solarenergywindpowersite.com for more tips and advice.
