Average speed for a standard golf cart is a measly (and top) 15 mph. So going from one hole to the next can be a very slow process. But, there are a few ways that you can make your stroller lighter, and therefore faster, too. Many companies sell different items to help you with this task.
The first step is to try to get rid of excess weight; anything from extra cup holders to fancy unnecessary rims on the wheels.
A very simple but often overlooked improvement is making sure the underside of the car is clean of debris. Mud and other caked-on debris will greatly slow down the car.
You can also add larger tires. The larger the tire, the greater the revolution, and therefore the faster the speed of the carriage. Plus, thicker tires will have more traction to handle faster speeds more effectively (and keep you safe). You can get tires at any golf cart store or even online.
Also make sure your tires are properly inflated. Bad inflation, like normal vehicles, reduces your speed.
Installing a high speed electric motor with higher RPM will also help the car go a little faster in the field.
You can also completely adjust or remove the governor. The governor limits the maximum speed that the golf cart can reach. These are installed in most carts for safety reasons.
Replacing the existing gear sets with one that has a lower ratio will also improve the overall speed of the carriage. The standard gear setting on a car is generally 12.5: 1, which produces a top speed of 14 to 15 miles per hour. But an 8: 1 gear set will increase speed to about 20 miles per hour.
If you have an electric golf cart, making it faster involves a few different techniques and can be a bit more difficult.
To increase the speed in your electric car, you will want to get a new battery, one that maximizes the output of the motor. Most electric golf carts are already made to run on a wide range of batteries, so finding one that maximizes performance shouldn’t be a problem.
You can also get a new electric motor if you can’t get a new battery. This may be the only way to increase speed if you find that you are already using the highest voltage possible.
Like traditional golf carts, you can also upgrade the gear system on electric carts to go faster. Electric cars typically have an 8: 1 gear ratio. Shifting it to 12: 1 will increase your speed. Keep in mind, however, that as the speed of the cart improves, you may understand its ability to tow heavy items.
Many custom vehicles can do all of this for you, albeit for a much higher price. But with a little knowledge and time, you can make your golf cart accelerate (safely, of course) from green to green.
