Buy a Used SUV from Your Local Dealership
The 2021 Ford Escape brought with it some new features, including a hybrid powertrain, and you’ll soon be finding this model year at affordable used prices at your local car dealership.
Available in four trim levels, all equipped with blind spot monitoring, lane departure warning, forward collision mitigation, and more, the 2021 Escape SUV has something for everyone.
Interior Comfort in the Escape
Despite its diminutive size, the Ford Escape has a spacious interior, even in the backseat. The vehicle is easy to get in and out of, thanks to its height, slightly taller than a sedan so you don’t have to lean down – which makes the Focus an ideal choice for those with mobility issues or for parents who need to help their small children get safely buckled into their car seats.
This used car for sale doesn’t hold back on cargo space. With 33.5 cubic feet behind the rear seats, that’s more than enough for groceries and sports equipment. With the seats folded down, it nearly doubles, so you can haul pets in crates, small pieces of furniture, luggage, and more, with ease.
The cabin is plenty quiet, and from the driver’s seat, you’ll find it handles more like a car than an SUV. And with large cubbies and door pockets, there are places to stash all the necessities you need for road trips or daily commutes.
Trim Levels
In 2021, Ford Motor Company released four trim levels for the Escape. It’s safe to say you’ll find examples of all four at a used car dealership near me – and near you, too!
The Escape S, the base trim, includes 17-inch steel wheels, a 4.2-inch display screen, six-speaker sound system, and a Wi-Fi hotspot. It lacks the bells and whistles of the higher trims, but it’s more than enough for budget-conscious drivers.
The Escape SE adds to the offerings of the S, including 17-inch alloy wheels, keyless ignition and entry, satellite radio, USB charging ports, smartphone connectivity, and an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with the latest Ford SYNC software.
When the 2021 SE trim was brand-new, buyers could add accessory packages to the vehicle, such as adding Co-Pilot 360 Assist+, additional safety equipment, a convenience package, or sport appearance package. They could even add a panoramic sunroof. Because of this, you’ll likely see a variability in the features on used SE models you look at. Truthfully, the SE presents the best value option if you’re looking for a comfortable ride, with enough features to satisfy.
The Escape SEL adds to the SE’s features, but automatically includes the cold weather and convenience packages that offered things like heated seats, and more, plus additional packages with features like 19-inch painted black wheels and faux suede seat inserts.
Looking for Lux? Go Titanium
The Titanium trim level was the highest for the 2021 model year, which came with a standard hybrid engine, although buyers could opt for the turbo-four.
Available upgrades included a technology package, 19-inch wheels, LED fog lights, auto-dimming rearview mirror, ambient interior lighting, power seats, and automated parking.
Also available at this level was the Titanium Elite package, which adds a panoramic sunroof, leather-wrapped steering wheel and upholstery, tow package, head-up display, and chrome exterior accents. If you’re looking for luxury, then opt for used Escape with the Titanium trim level.
Engine Options
Lower trim levels came equipped with a turbocharged 1.5-liter, three-cylinder engine, capable of achieving 190 pound-feet of torque and 181 horsepower, with an eight-speed automatic transmission.
With the Titanium – and as options for the SE and SEL – drivers got a 2.5-liter hybrid powertrain with 200 total system horsepower and a CVT.
Additionally, a turbo 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with 250 horsepower and 280 pound-feet or torque was available for the SEL and Titanium trims. This particular engine is capable of towing up to 3,500 pounds, which is more than other SUVs in its class.
Depending on the engine the used Escape you’re looking at is equipped with, you’ll find that some come with all-wheel drive, while others are front-wheel drive. The four cylinder turbo automatically comes with AWD, so if that’s what you’re looking for, narrow your search to that engine in particular.
Fuel Economy
Overall, the Escape is quite fuel efficient, even the gas-powered ones. The 2.0-liter engine achieves an average of 26 miles per gallon. The hybrid engine performs even better.
Remember that fuel efficiency is not only influenced by the vehicle, but the way you drive. If you’re looking for more fuel efficiency in your 2021 Ford Escape, take a look at your driving habits to see if you could cut back on how much gas your vehicle is utilizing.
