Too often, freelance writers, authors, and trainers build a website, do a few things to promote their site, and then hope that people will visit their site and buy their products and services.
But this is not the typical way online sales are done.
In general, most customers/potential customers should know, like and trust you before they buy something from you on your website/blog.
For that reason, you need to create ways to develop a relationship (a professional relationship, of some sort, you don’t have to become best friends with your website visitors) with these people over time.
You can develop such a relationship in various ways. The most obvious way is to create a regular newsletter that provides information that your target market values and expects to receive.
Another way is with the regular email campaigns you create, which are usually more focused on a topic than a newsletter and are sent out in multiple emails over a short period of time (several days to several weeks).
Another way is to make your blog as interactive as possible, so your readers have a chance to communicate with you there.
Today, take a look at the ways you currently have for your prospects and customers to get to know, like, and trust you.
You may already have several ways to do this. But keep adding to the mix. The more ways you provide for your site visitors to get to know, like, and trust you, the more sales, writing assignments, and other opportunities you can expect to get.
Try it!
