COLOGNE, Germany, Jan. 23 / PRNewswire /) – Protect children online
The cybersecurity company SafeToNet takes over 77 telecommunications businesses from Fexcom and One Brand Solutions GmbH. The stores that offer network contracts from Deutsche Telekom, Vodafone and Telefonica are now called “SafeToNet Family Stores”. SafeToNet child protection software will be sold with every child device in the future – including devices from Samsung, Apple and Nokia. SafeToNet was founded in Great Britain and has been active in Germany since 2020. SafeToNet aims to make the online world safer for children and to protect them from risks such as cybergrooming, sexting and abuse.
SafeToNet’s security software runs on children’s cell phones or tablets and uses artificial intelligence to detect and filter harmful content in real time. Now, for the first time, this software is supplied directly with the smartphone purchase.
“This step is a critical development in the fight against Internet risk for children,” said Richard Pursey, SafeToNet CEO. “We’re bringing cybersecurity into the shopping streets and enabling parents to protect their children’s smartphones and tablets. The family stores employ cybersecurity experts who can advise on how to be safe online. More importantly, all parents, the children buy a device from us and automatically receive our cybersecurity software with their device. “
Richard Pursey explains SafeToNet’s motivation: “We are frustrated with social networks and messaging apps that have failed to protect children on their platforms. We are also disappointed with cell phone manufacturers who are making phones available to children without standard security features. Therefore we have now acquired our own telecommunications businesses and will work more closely with network providers and manufacturers in the future to better protect children. “
Partners are also positive about the SafeToNet Family Stores: Georg Schmitz-Ax, Head of Retail at Deutsche Telekom says: “The SafeToNet Family Stores are an asset to stationary mobile phone retailing in Germany. We support SafeToNet’s mission to protect children online and look forward to them Cooperation on this important topic “
Gottfried Werner, CEO of SafeToNet EMEA: “Our family stores make a big contribution to the online safety of children. Parents now have a choice and I hope that they decide to buy devices for their children in the family stores. We offer a wide range of cybersecurity products for children, including SafeToPlay – it allows children to play safely online. Children can also come into our stores and play online while parents choose a safe device. “
